Lion's 2nd Birthday Party in the Park

We had the best time celebrating Lion's 2nd birthday in Colorado. Lion loved being surrounded by lots of love and good energy. It was tough deciding where to celebrate her 2nd birthday party - with family and friends spread across several states and our travel schedules pretty packed. We decided since Marcello had to be in Denver for his office open house on Friday (Lion's actual birthday), we would make the trip to Colorado and find a place to celebrate that was easy to manage and close to our hotel. We decided to do a morning breakfast party in the park - thinking of Lion's change of schedule from the travel and our guests' busy Saturday schedules. A snowstorm hit Denver Thursday before her Saturday party, but luckily the bright Colorado sun dried most of the snow by the weekend and the weather warmed up to be a beautiful day. Our hotel, Halcyon, has an awesome gear room that offers bikes, skateboards, polaroid cameras, vinyls, corn hole, and so much more that hotel guests can rent out at no cost (costs are included in the $30 nightly resort fee that also covers unlimited made-to-order coffee, delicious snacks throughout the day, a record player in each hotel room, and more). So we decided to rent the corn hole set for Lion's park party. I ordered most of the party supplies on Amazon (see all the links below), trying to find as many compostable or eco-friendly items as I could. Since we did a morning birthday party, we ordered a delicious breakfast spread from one of our favorite breakfast spots in Denver, Lucile's Creole Cafe. The food spread included scrambled eggs, potatoes and grits, bacon, biscuits, Lucile's famous chicory coffee, strawberry rhubarb jam, apple cider, and more. I found a lovely bakery near the park to order her cake, Maggie & Molly's, however the bakery unfortunately didn't open until 10AM so to keep things easy we ended up ordering a cake from Safeway - which is located across from Lucile's and also had helium to blow up the balloons. And Lion ended up stepping on the cake (see photo below)! Thankfully it didn't smash it too much and it really tasted soo good! We went with a vanilla cake with raspberry filling.
